Demonetised currency notes found in drain in Tiruchirappalli

Some currency notes of demonisted curency notes in Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination were found floating in a drain in Tiruchirappalli on Monday along with plastic bottles and bags, police said.
They said the notes had been cut using a machine before being dumped into the drain. All the pieces were yet to be collected to arrive at their exact value, police said.
The police also said that footage from CCTVs in the area was being examined to find out who had dumped the notes into the drain.
Last week, shredded pieces of demonetised notes were found in a dust bin in woriyur area in Tiruchirappalli.
