Drunk car driver drags constable along for 500 mt in Thane arrested
As The Constable Was Holding On To A Side Of Car's Bonnet, He Got Dragged For A Distance Of Half A Kilometre.
The city police on Saturday arrested a 28 years old man who allegedly dragged a traffic constable for some 500 mt when the latter tried to stop his car at the busy Teen Hath Naka junction here.
DCP, traffic, S B Palve told PTI that constable Narsingh Mahapure (47) asked Yogesh Bhamre (28), a resident of Shashtri Nagar, to stop as he was driving his car on the wrong side.
Bhamre allegedly did not stop and took a U-turn towards Nashik. As the constable was holding on to a side of car's bonnet, he got dragged for a distance of half a kilometre.
Some auto drivers intercepted the car and rescued him. Bhamre was subsequently arrested. The constable did not suffer any major injuries.
The DCP said that Bhamre did not even have a driving licence, and was found to be drunk. Further probe is on.
