Low magnitude earthquake hits Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh
A 6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Has Also Shaken Buildings In Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Pakistan Region In This Afternoon.
A low magnitude earthquake hit several parts of north India, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Wednesday. The quake was felt at about 4:15 pm, a MeT Department official said.
"Light tremors were felt in parts of northern India, including Delhi-NCR," according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The National capital was jolted followed by a sudden change of weather. IMD has issued a fresh warning about strong winds and rains in and around Delhi including Jhajjar, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Hodal and Palwal in the next few hours.
Earlier, a thunderstorm accompanied by a squall and heavy rains was also predicted in parts of eastern India on Wednesday. Meanwhile, heavy rain and hailstorm lashed parts of Haryana along with Bhiwani.Â
Earthquake tremors were also felt in Kashmir Valley, the news agency ANI reported. There were no reports of loss of life or damage to property, government officials said.
A 6.2 magnitude earthquake has also shaken buildings in Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Pakistan region in this afternoon.
There are also reports that the epicentre of the earthquake was in Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region.
