An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale strikes Nicobar Islands region on Thursday morning, the Indian Met Department said. Tremors felt around 8.23 am. The quake had a latitude of 7.6°N, longitude of 94.5°E and a depth of 84 kilometre. There was no tsunami alert issued as sea levels around the Andaman Nicobar archipelago showed no major rise, said SPS Shenoi, Director INCOIS. There were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property, officials said.
