J-K Encounter: Three militants, policeman killed at Fateh Kadal in Srinagar
Three militants and a policeman were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants at the Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar on Wednesday. According to reports, the encounter began in the early hours of the morning.
Kamal Kishore, policeman of Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir police lost his life in the encounter. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said that the operation was launched by the J&K police the CRPF on a specific information that they received on Tuesday night. The house was cordoned off and the security force was fired upon when it reached near the house. Two of the three militants have been identified as Mehraj-ud-din Bangroo and Faid Mushtaq Waza. Arms and ammunition have been recovered. Mehraj-ud-din Bangroo was wanted in several cases of murders, possession of weapons, snatching and other anti-social activities.Â
“Three terrorists have been eliminated and one Jammu & Kashmir police personnel has lost his life,†Imitiyaz Ismail Parray, SSP, Srinagar told news agency ANI.
The district administration has closed all schools and educational institution in the city as a precautionary measure and mobile internet services have also been snapped.
The Fateh Kadal encounter was reported just a few days after a militant was killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the police said.
