A former panchayat member was attacked and robbed of cash and valuables by 8 car-borne armed persons at his native village Bhakhriana, police said in Punjab on Wednesday.Sewa Singh (45) was admitted to local civil hospital.He told police that the assailants hit his motorcycle when he was standing near the house of former Sarpanch Sewa Ramon Tuesday.Armed youth attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.Singh alleged that he was robbed of Rs one lakh cash, a golden chain and a bracelet.The victim has alleged his UK-based relatives, with whom he is having a long feud over a piece of land, are behind the attack, police said.A case has been registered and further investigations are on, they added.
