According To The Advisory Of The Ministry Of Defence, These People Are Trying To Propagate Misinformation Through Fake Social Media Handles.
Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) is one of the most popular reality quiz shows where people get to earn a lot of money by answering certain questions. Some Pakistan-based operatives are attempting to use the popularity of the Amitabh Bachchan-anchored TV show to trap individuals. According to the advisory of the Ministry of Defence, these people are trying to propagate misinformation through fake social media handles. The advisory also gave directions on how to exit such groups.
"It has been reported by cyber cell, Ministry of Defence that adversaries are taking advantage of the popularity of TV show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" by making individuals join WhatsApp groups and sending fake KBC messages to trap individuals," a security advisory issued by the Defence Ministry said.
It said that mobile numbers - 92-3077902877 and 92-3040943299 are the administrators of such WhatsApp groups. The Cyber Cell of the MoD advised people to immediately exit such groups, if one has already been added to it.
It also advised people to configure their WhatsApp settings in such a manner that only a person whose contact details are saved in their phone can add them in a group, without an invitation. It also gave directions for that.
Go to Settings, then Account, then Privacy, then go to Groups, then check My Contacts option, and lastly go to Done. It said that the advisory was to be sent to all personnel.
Meanwhile, the security agencies detected over 200 fake handles of both serving and retired military officers who were spreading messages as per the Pakistani narrative on the Kashmir issue. Pakistan has been trying every thing to instigate people of Kashmir ever since Modi government abrogated Article 370 of Indian Constitution, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
