Police have filed an FIR against eleven members of a cooperative housing society in neighbouring Vasai, after a Muslim family was allegedly denied a flat there.
The FIR was lodged at the Manikpur police station late this evening.
A majority of the members of Happy Jivan Co-operative Society allegedly opposed sale of a flat by its owner to a Muslim family, a police official said.
A meeting was held on September 4 and a resolution opposing the proposed sale was passed.
The members told K Patel, the flat owner, that he was free to sell the flat to someone within the community but not to a Muslim person.
Following this, Patel approached the police, alleging that the society had refused the No Objection Certificate for the sale.
