Fodder scam case: Ex-Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav appears before CBI court

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday appeared before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Patna for hearing in a fodder scam case. Ex-chief minister Jagannath Mishra also appeared before the court in the similar case.The case relates to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 47 lakh from Bhagalpur treasury. In 1996, the CBI had registered a case in this regard. Later, a chargesheet was filed and had named 44 accused including Lalu and Mishra.The Supreme Court had last month ruled that Lalu will have to face trial in all four cases relating to fodder scam against him as it set aside a Jharkhand High Court order which had dropped conspiracy charges against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief.The Animal Husbandry Department from various districts had fraudulently withdrew Rs 900 crore when Lalu was the chief minister of Bihar.
