For justice, Thane man reaches court on stretcher with plastered legs
He Was Abducted By The Four Assailants From His Locality And Beaten With Rods.
In Thane, it was an unusual scene in the courtroom of district judge RS Patil-Bhosle on Friday, where a witness came to give his deposition lying on a stretcher with both his legs plastered. Sahib Mukim Ansari, the witness, was the centre of attraction as the lawyers and passers-by crowded the courtroom to see him record his evidence against four people who allegedly assaulted and tried to kill him. Ansari, who is a scrap dealer by profession, also does part-time social work in his area. He was abducted by the four assailants from his locality and beaten with rods. Ansari's injuries were so severe that he had to be operated seven times and has been bedridden since.The accused have been booked on various charges, including attempt to murder.Ansari’s evidence was recorded by the assistant public prosecutor.
