Grand alliance a combination of terror-friendly parties: BJP
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday called the proposed grand alliance in Jammu and Kashmir as a "combination of terror-friendly parties" and said the best option is to have fresh Assembly polls at the earliest in the state, news agency PTI reported. Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, the BJP said that the border state cannot afford horse-trading and instability keeping its security scenario in mind.
"The proposed alliance between the Congress and the PDP broke up even before it was formed. They have taken contradictory positions on dissolution. One supports it and the other opposes it," the BJP said.
"The best option in such a scenario is to go in for a fresh election at the earliest. This Assembly cannot produce a stable government," it added. Jammu and Kashmir needs a firm administration to “deal with terrorism and not a combination of terror-friendly parties”, the BJP said.
Earlier, after former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti confirmed the grand alliance with the National Conference (NC) and the Congress, Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the state Assembly under the relevant provisions in Jammu and Kashmir Constitution.ALSO READ | Jammu and Kashmir: Omar Abdullah questions timing of dissolution of assembly by Governor Malik Jammu and Kashmir has been under Governor's Rule since the past few months which cannot be extended after it completes its six-month term on December 19. The unprecedented movement came a day after senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig threw his weight behind BJP ally Sajad Lone on Tuesday. The previous government headed by the Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti fell when its partner BJP pulled out of the ruling coalition on June 16.
