Gurmehar Kaur Row: Indo-Pak forum, Akal Takht, SGPC extend support to DU student; say BJP-RSS 'hounding' her

An Indo-Pak civil society forum on Friday came out in support of Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur and condemned the RSS-affiliated ABVP for “targeting” her. Sikhs’ top temporal seat Akal Takht head Gyani Gurbachan Singh also extended support to Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur.
In a statement, the Pakistan-India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) said, “Through her statement ‘Pakistan did not kill my dad. War killed him’ she was underlining the futility of war.
Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh, had changed her Facebook profile picture holding a placard which read “I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP”.
Jathedar Akal Takht said it was highly unfortunate that some people, unaware of the Sikh religion and its commitments, have been hurling threats to Sikh girl Gurmehar.
He said that she was the daughter of martyr Captain Mandeep Singh who had scarified his life for nation and it was duty of the nation to protect her dignity. He said asked SGPC officials to meet Gurmehar Kaur to provide all possible security cover to her.
