A train engine was derailed in Haryana’s Rewari on Sunday after plying for 2 kilometres without a driver after its brake levers were jammed, news agency ANI reported.
The two drivers in the train had jumped out of the engine immediately after the levers got jammed.
The train’s engine is a 65-year-old steam locomotive engine ‘Akbar’, which has featured in over 20 Bollywood films including Sultan, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Rang De Basanti.
"I had only switched on the ignition and had not pressed the accelerator. But, it suddenly became uncontrollable and started chugging down the tracks at high speed. I got scared and jumped off the engine. It continued the run for about four-five minutes, covering around 2 km without me," one of the drivers said.
