Heavy rains lash Puducherry, daily life hit; warning sent to fishermen
Several educational institutions remained shut in view of the incessant rains which started since Wednesday night as heavy showers lashed Puducherry and its nearby areas affecting normal life on Thursday morning. Total rainfall of 96.44 mm was marked in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Thursday, officials said.
Waterlogging affected some areas on the outskirts of Puducherry as traffic came to a standstill hampering daily commuting, the officials added.
An emergency meeting of Revenue and Disaster Management Department was held by the district collector to review the worrying situation, sources told PTI.

The Met department has forecast moderate rain accompanied by heavy downpour in some areas in the next 72 hours in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
Fisherman have been alarmed to not get into the sea in the mentioned timeframe over South Kerala Coast, Lakshadweep area, Comorin area, Southeast Arabian sea and Central Arabian sea.
