Hindu Mahasabha installs statue of Gandhi killer Nathuram Godse in Gwalior
Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP Government And Vishwas Hindu Parishad Have Distanced Themselves From The Hindu Mahasabha Saying They Should Not Be Asked Questions As They Have No Part To Play In The Godse Statue Installation.
The right-wing outfit Hindu Mahasabha on Wednesday installed the statue of Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathu Ram Godse at its Gwalior office on 68th anniversary of execution of the assassin.
The move has triggered a fresh political controversy and led to widespread protests from opposition Congress in the BJP-ruled state.
The police said it was aware of the development and will act after taking legal advice from the experts.
The inspector general of police (IG-Intelligence) Makarand Deuskar said, “the administration and police in Gwalior are alive to the development and taking legal opinion in the matter to act accordingly. Cops are on full alert to deal with any law and order situation arising from the development in Gwalior.â€
The leader of opposition in state assembly Ajay Singh ‘Rahul’ has demanded sedition case against Hindu Mahasabha leaders who were involved in the act.
Meanwhile, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government and Vishwas Hindu Parishad have distanced themselves from the Hindu Mahasabha saying they "should not be asked questions" as they have "no part to play" in the Godse statue installation.
Reacting to this, Ajay Singh ‘Rahul’ said, “The BJP has over 25-26 affiliate-wings which remain engaged in bizarre acts and later the BJP disowns their deeds.â€
