India reported 356 honour killing cases in 2014-16, says government
The country witnessed 356 cases of honour killings between 2014-16, Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.To address the issue, the ministry has advised all states about the preventive, remedial and punitive measures to be implemented, the minister said in a written reply.

In 2015, 251 cases were reported and 77 cases in 2016, according to the latest published information available with the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
Some of the cases were registered under Section 302 (murder) and Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC, Ahir added.
