After a video surfaced showing an assault of passenger by a staff member of Indigo, Union civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Wednesday said these kinds of barbarous act shouldn't be allowed. He said they have to find out that who is at fault, and would take stern action in the case. The Civil Aviation minister asked aviation regulator DGCA for an independent report on the incident.
While talking to media, he said if any violation has taken place, it would be looked into.
The brutal assault took place on October 15. In the video, a passenger is first seen being stopped from entering a coach, then pulled back by a ground staff.
Another airline employee is seen restraining the traveller. The passenger fought back and fell to the ground in the melee.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha condemned the incident in a series of tweets, and said the government has sought a report from the airline.
IndiGo President and Whole Time Director Aditya Ghosh apologised and said stern action was taken against the staff.Â
