‘Indu Sarkar’: Congress workers create ruckus at press conference in Pune
The Congress Workers On Saturday Created Ruckus At A Hotel In Pune Where Press Conference Of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Movie “Indu Sarkar' Was Scheduled.
The Congress workers on Saturday created ruckus at a hotel in Pune where press conference of Madhur Bhandarkar’s movie “Indu Sarkar” was scheduled.
Seeing the protest, the movie stars had cancelled the press conference scheduled in Pune.
Bhandarkar took to Twitter to share about the incident. He wrote that team of the movie was left stranded like hostages in the hotel room.
"Congress workers have barged in the Hotel lobby and created ruckus, me and team are stranded like hostages in hotel room. Pune activity cancelled," Bhandarkar tweeted.
'Indu Sarkar', which is set against the backdrop of Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975, has courted trouble in the recent weeks with Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam demanding that it be separately screened for him.
However, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, the director of the movie, has turned down Nirupam's request, saying he will not hold any separate screening for the Congress or any other political party.
Indu Sarkar is due to be released on July 28.
"Some people sent me legal notices, saying they are allegedly Sanjay Gandhi's daughter,” Jagdish Tytler wrote a letter that he wants his portrayal in very good faith. Mr Nirupam also wrote that he wants to see the film.
"But, you never questioned a journalist writing articles on 40 years of Emergency, in which he mentions names, you never question an author who has dedicated books to emergency, or the tremendous amount of documentaries made about the era," Bhandarkar had told.
