Jammu and Kashmir: Indian Army jawan shoots self during duty hours
The Deceased Has Been Identified As Lance Naik Parvesh Kumar Mishra, 34, Of The 118 Medium Regiment. Mishra Hailed From Odisha And Lived With His Family In Kunjwani Army Quarters.
An Indian Army jawan shot himself during duty hours at RS Pura Border belt of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Lance Naik Parvesh Kumar Mishra, 34, of the 118 Medium Regiment. Mishra hailed from Odisha and lived with his family in Kunjwani Army quarters.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the deceased pumped in two rounds of bullet into his head.
A senior police officer Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “The bullets pierced his helmet and head. It is yet not clear if he committed suicide or the firing was result of mis-firing”
Police said, he shot himself with his duty rifle, INSAS, early in the morning. He was posted near Chhalla village under RS Police station area.
Surinder Choudhary, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) said, “We are investigating the matter. We have not found any suicide note from his possession. Reasons behind the act is yet not clear.”
