Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s niece, Deepa Jayakumar, on Thursday challenged Chief Minister E Palaniswami’s decision to convert Poes Garden residence into memorial.
"They have no right to announce this without consulting legal heirs which is me and my brother," said D Jayakumar.
Jayakumar said that she has moral, ethical and legal right over the house.
Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu CM E Palaniswami had announced that Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence in Chennai will be made into a memorial.
Jayalalithaa died on December 5 last year following a massive cardiac arrest at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
Jayalalithaa was admitted to hospital on September 22 following complaints of fever and dehydration and days before her death doctors had announced that she has recovered fully and will be discharged soon.
