Jharkhand: 4 Maoists shot dead, one jawan killed in Dumka encounter
A Search Operation Was Going On In Forests Of Taldangal In Dumka District When Maoists Opened Fire On Security Forces Around 3.30 Am.
At least four Maoists were gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in Jharkhand's Dumka district on Sunday. A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan also lost his life during the encounter, YS Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, said.Â
"In an encounter with Naxals in Dumka, 1 jawan has lost his life and 4 others are injured. According to our information, 4-5 Naxals have been shot," the SSP was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to reports, a search operation was going on in forests of Taldangal in Dumka district when Maoists opened fire on security forces around 3.30 am.
In the retaliatory action, at least five Maoists received bullets as they retreated into the forest, said the top cop.
SSB jawan Niraj Chetri was killed while Rajesh Kumar Rai, Sonu Kumar, Satish Gujar and Karan Kumar were injured, he said.
While Rai was airlifted to Ranchi for treatment, others were admitted to the Dumka Sadar Hospital, the police officer said.
