JK CM Pakistan’s ‘Mehbooba’, not ours: BJP MP Subramanian Swami
The BJP MP Also Accused Mufti Of Pressurising India For Not Withdrawing Pakistan’s Most Favoured Nation Status.
The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swami on Sunday made a rather controversial remark against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and called her ‘Mehbooba’ (lover) of Pakistan.
Reacting to Mufti’s request to Prime Minister Modi to initiate dialogue with Pakistan, Swamy said, “Mehbooba could be Pakistan’s Mehbooba (lover), but not for us.”
The BJP MP also accused Mufti of pressurising India for not withdrawing Pakistan’s Most Favoured Nation status.
“I don't understand why we have not withdrawn the Most Favoured Nation status to Pakistan, it is because of people like her (Mehbooba Mufti) who pressurise for it,” he said.
Earlier on Saturday, asserting that “reconciliation is the mantra," Mufti urged PM Modi to initiate talks with Pakistan as the country was the “key” for peace in Kashmir.
“Reconciliation is the mantra which we need to follow and therefore, I request Modi ji to engage with Pakistan,” she said.
“We need to take an assurance from the neighbouring country that they should not be allowing their soil to be used against India. After all, we all know that the key for peace is in Pakistan. They have been pushing terrorists into the state,” the chief minister added.
