The Karnataka government on Wednesday decided that it will open “Indira Canteen” in all the cities with population of more than 1 lakh.
Earlier in August, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi launched Karnataka government’s flagship program ‘Indira Canteen’ in Bengaluru.
Reports have claimed that breakfast will be served for Rs 5, lunch for Rs 10 and dinner for Rs 10 at Indira Canteen.
The menu will consist of traditional cuisines, designed by leading chefs of five-star hotels.
There are 27 assembly constituencies and 198 wards in Bengaluru. It was said that there will be one Indira Canteen in each of the 198 wards.
Moreover, there will be one kitchen in each of the 27 assembly constituencies.
The flagship program of the Congress is aimed at reaching to the poor. Gandhi claimed that he was proud that the Congress government had conceptualized this canteen.
