Karwa Chauth or Karva Chauth is a Hindu festival which will be celebrated on October 8 this year. It is traditionally observed by married women during which they conduct a nirjala fast for the safety and longevity of their husbands.
The word Karwa or Karak refers to the earthen pot through which water offering, known as Argha is made to the moon. Karwa Chauth falls during the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the month of Kartik as per the Hindu calendar.
