Kashmir: Terrorist gunned down, policeman killed in Baramulla encounter
The Gunfight Broke Out After Security Forces Received Specific Information About The Presence Of Terrorists
A terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. A Special Police Officer (SPO) also lost his life in the encounter. The gunfight broke out after security forces received specific information about the presence of terrorists, according to reports. Security forces also launched a cordon and search operation in the area. On Tuesday, an Army man was killed and four others injured as Pakistani troops targeted forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said.
The firing from across the border in Krishna Ghati sector started around 11.00 am, prompting a befitting response from the Indian Army.
The officials said the cross-border firing between the two sides was going on when last reports were received. One Army man died and four others were injured in the firing, they said. Tensions are high in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5 after PM Modi’s government scrapped the autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir, a divided Muslim-majority region that has enjoyed special status in the Indian constitution since the country’s independence in 1947.
