Now, Youth Congress president Keshav Chand Yadav resigns, writes to Rahul Gandhi
Keshav Chand Yadav Was Appointed As National President Of Indian Youth Congress (IYC), Replacing Amrinder Singh Raja Brar, By Rahul Gandhi In May Last Year.
President of Indian Youth Congress Keshav Chand Yadav resigned from his post on Saturday taking full responsibility of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 debacle. "I do hereby take the full responsibility of the 2019 electoral defeat and tender my resignation from my current post," Yadav said in a letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi.
Yadav was appointed as national president of Indian Youth Congress (IYC), replacing Amrinder Singh Raja Brar, by Rahul Gandhi in May last year.
Keshav Chand Yadav, who hails from Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, has been the national general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and was incharge of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said he is no longer Congress president and the party's working committee should meet immediately to decide on his successor. He later issued a statement on Twitter, saying: "It is an honour for me to serve the Congress Party, whose values and ideals have served as the lifeblood of our beautiful nation. I owe the country and my organisation a debt of tremendous gratitude and love, Jai Hind."
Taking moral responsibility for the party's poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi resigned as Congress president at a CWC meeting on May 25, two days after the results were declared. The party won 52 seats in the Lok Sabha election.
With Rahul Gandhi making it clear that he is no longer the president of the Congress party, reports were emerging that veteran leader Motilal Vora is likely to be the interim chief of the grand old party till the Congress Working Committee (CWC) elects a new president.
90-year-old Vora currently holds the post of general secretary in-charge of administration, Congress.
Traditionally, in the absence of any emergency, Congress is led by the senior most leader until a chief is appointed.
