Flyover Collapse In Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Is Present At The Mishap Site To Take Stock Of The Situation, While Army Has Joined The Rescue Operations.
Kolkata flyover collapse: At least 21 persons were killed and as many as 85 got injured when a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed today on a busy central street here, police said. Many passenger vehicles, trucks and rickshaws were seen under the debris but it was not immediately known as to how many people were trapped. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is present at the mishap site to take stock of the situation, while Army has joined the rescue operations. According to reports the toll could be higher. Police, fire brigade and disaster management personnel have rushed to the accident site and started rescue work. Cranes have been pressed to remove the debris.
