Kupwara encounter: One militant dead in gunfight with security forces

An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Kupwara area of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The security forces have gunned down one militant.
The security forces had besieged a house in Nagri village where a Hizbul militant was believed to be hiding. This led to a gunbattle between the two sides. Security forces surrounded the house after receiving information about militants hiding there, police said.
This comes just two days after the Pampore attack in which 8 CRPF men were killed and 22 others were injured during an encounter between the security forces and militants. Last week, 7 militants were killed in 3 encounters in the district.
