The opposition on Tuesday staged a walk-out in the Lok Sabha, protesting against the introduction of the Land Acquisition Bill after it was introduced in the House by Union Minister for Rural Development Chaudhary Birender Singh.
Earlier, Trinamool Congress (TMC) legislators on Tuesday staged a protest against the Land Acquisition Bill outside the Parliament.
Wearing green outfits, the protesters raised slogans against the Bill.
"Poor people's interest has to be looked into. Our green clothes represent greenery and agriculture of the nation," said TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee.
The government will today introduce the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the Parliament to replace the Land Acquisition Ordinance.
It will be introduced in the Lok Sabha by Rural development Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh.
The government had last year in December circulated the ordinance which had brought changes in the previous bill passed in 2013 by the UPA regime.
Meanwhile, veteran social activist Anna Hazare has launched a protest against the ordinance demanding its withdrawal, which will be joined by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia.
