The rift in the Congress in Madhya Pradesh is once again wide open with former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia targeting the government of his party in the state over illegal sand mining and demanded strict action. Scindia also pointed out that and said that the Kamal Nath administration should listen to his ministers instead of allowing interference from outside.
Scindia made this statement after Madhya Pradesh Minister Umang Singhar targeted former CM Digvijaya Singh and said that he was running a proxy government in the state.
"The issues raised by Umang Ji should have been paid attention to. The chief minister should listen to both the sides, talk to them and come to a solution," Jyotiraditya Scindia was quoted as saying by some reports.
"It is after 15 years and extreme hard work that the Congress party has come to power in Madhya Pradesh and it has been only 6 months. Several Congress leaders have high hopes and are expecting development from the party and the administration. There are differences and the government should sit and sort these out," said Scindia.
Asked on illegal mining, the Congress leader said: "I am saddened by it and should be stopped. This was one of our election issues."
"We had openly protested against illegal mining during the previous BJP rule. What's unfortunate is it's still underway under the current (Kamal Nath-led) government, he said.
He even said if illegal mining does not stop, he would be compelled to "step into the issue".
Meanwhile, his name is being raised for the position of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief. On this, he said "the party high command's decision would be final".
