Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the State Government to adhere to its statement on shifting of the statue of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan from a main road junction here by May 18.
The first Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M Sundar gave the direction after the Additional Advocate General informed the court that instead of its earlier decision seeking time up to October 15 to shift the statue near Marina Beach, a decision has been taken to shift it on or before May 18.
The bench in its statement said ‘the time schedule submitted before us is to be adhered to’.
A petition was filed by one P Nagarajan on implementation of the January 23, 2014 court order in connection with removal of the statue.
