Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the nation on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti and said Mahavir’s message of peace and non-violence is a source of great inspiration for the country.
"Bhagwan Mahavir’s message of peace, non-violence and harmony is a source of great inspiration for us," Modi tweeted along with a video post urging citizens to practice Tadasana, a form of yoga popularly known as mountain pose.
Modi also stressed upon several benefits of Tadasana in yet another video.
Tadasana: Five benefits
# Tadasana helps in improving body posture and reduces flat feet.
# Regular practice of Tadasana helps to strengthen thighs, knees, and ankles and also firms abdomens and buttocks.
# It improves blood circulation and relieves sciatica.
# Tadasana also strengthens the spine and makes it more flexible.
# It helps in regulating digestive, respiratory and nervous systems.

Tadasana is a standing yoga posture which is considered as the 'mother of asanas'. 'Tada' stands for mountain and this posture is also known as the 'mountain pose'. It is the basic yoga pose that helps in transforming mind and body.
Tadasana not just helps in improving the body posture but also allows the internal organs to work more efficiently along with encouraging mental awareness.
