Suspected Maoists snatched walkie-talkies from railway personnel in Ghatsila sub-division of Jharkhand last night, police said today.
Ghatsila Sub-Divisional Police officer Sanjeev Besra said the masked Maoists looted four walkie-talkies from the driver, assistant driver, coach guard and from the office of the assistant station master of Kokpara at around 10 PM soon after the train stopped at the station.
Besra, who rushed to the spot after receiving the information, said that the ultras assaulted the assistant station master before they looted a walkie-talkie from his office.
He rejected claims that the driver M R Nikkar was abducted and released after some time.
Kokpara is situated between Chakulia-Dalbhumgarh stations under Kharagpur division of South Eastern Railway in Naxal-affected Ghatsila sub-division.
The train was stranded for about two hours before it left for its onward journey at around midnight, he said.
