Rallies And Public Meetings Marked May Day Celebrations Across Kerala With Workers Taking To The Streets To Celebrate The International Workers Day.
Rallies and public meetings marked May Day celebrations across Kerala with workers taking to the streets to celebrate the International Workers Day.
Marches were organised by joint committee of central trade unions in the state capital here and other districts.
A public meeting was held in the evening which was addressed by senior leaders of unions like CITU and AITUC. The INTUC also organized May Day programmes throughout the state.
Trade union leaders said the unity of working classes was more relevant now than ever before to defend their hard-earned rights like job security, eight-hour working time and minimum wages.
On the occasion, Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam greeted the people and wished them success in their work and in their continued efforts for welfare and dignity.
