Militants looted Rs 11 lakh from Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Pulwama, Kashmir on Thursday.
Four gunmen entered the Ratnipora branch of the J&K Bank Ltd in Pulwama and looted about 11 lakh money. A man hunt has been launched in the valley.
Robbery cases have surged in the valley since the PM Narendra Modi on November 8 annnounced to demonetize the higher denomination currency notes.
On November 21, four armed masked men robbed Rs 13 lakhs in old currency note from a bank in Malpora, about 100km from Srinagar. In another robbery attempt, bank in Kashmir's Pulwama district on December 8 was robbed and thieves made away with Rs 10 lakh. Three armed men looted a bank on gunpoint in Kulgam district of Kashmir in October. Unidentified persons looted over Rs 34 lakh from a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Kishtwar district.
