Mini high-speed train to reduce travel time between Kanpur and Ghaziabad
Tracks For The Corridor Had Been Laid From Bhadan To Khurja.
The travel time between Ghaziabad and Kanpur is soon going to reduce with a mini-high speed train set to operate very soon. The high-speed corridor between Kanpur and Ghaziabad will be able to speed up 160 km. However, the actual time that will be taken by the train has not been fixed yet. An official said that it will start operations from April next year. At present, the maximum speed of trains is 130 km, but the speed section is only 80 km in a distance of 444 kilometre.
Railway officials said that the tracks for the corridor had been laid from Bhadan to Khurja. The tracks for the goods train will be laid separately. Now, trains will reach Ghaziabad in about 4 hours 15 minutes. Preparations are in the final stages. Senior station superintendent of Central Railway RNP Trivedi said that the 160 kmph is the proposed speed between Kanpur and Ghaziabad, then reverse trains can also be run.
The entire section will have an automatic signalling system because of which the trains maintain a certain distance between each other. Work has started to take the high-speed Shatabdi and Rajdhani Expresses from the third line.
Commuters will be greatly benefitted by the new high-speed train as travel time will reduce from 6-7 hours to a little over 4 hours. Except Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Duronto expresses, all the other trains take a lot of time to cover the 462-km distance.
