Missed calls from Pakistan stun Karnataka top cop
While Talking To News Nation Roopa Said, I Reached Office At 5 Pm From A Field Tour And Was Busy With Important Official Work So Kept Mobile In Silent Mode. After Some Time I Found Two Missed Calls From An International Number And On Verification Came To Know That The Number Belongs To Pakistan.
D Roopa, Commissioner Road Safety and Traffic Karnataka was in for surprise and shock when she found two missed calls from Pakistan on her mobile phone. To be on a safer side, Roopa didn’t call back instead went on to verify the number. The number from which she received the phone call is +00923016545867. Being the former SP, Cyber Police Karnataka, she immediately found out that the calls were made from Pakistan and could have been an attempt by a fraudster to siphon money through fraudulent schemes. While talking to News Nation Roopa said, "I reached office at 5 pm from a field tour and was busy with important official work so kept mobile in silent mode. After some time I found two missed calls from an international number and on verification came to know that the number belongs to Pakistan. I didn't call back the number since I don't have any friends in Pakistan."Since Roopa inferred that the call could have been made for some dicey purpose she immediately tweeted about the incident mentioning the phone number for creating awareness among the public. "I just got a call from +00923016545867, fraudster from Pakistan. It still continues unabated. Even police officers not spared!! Beware of numbers starting with +92-".
In the past too cyber experts have warned about hoax calls and informed the public to be aware of numbers starting with +92. Cyber experts say there is no foolproof security system to block these calls so to be on a safer side people should avoid answering calls from numbers starting with +92.
