Nagpur tiger to walk on all four legs after getting prosthetic leg
“The Tiger Was In A Lot Of Pain And Used To Hop On Three Legs. We Immediately Decided To Provide Him With Prosthetics So That He Can Walk On All Four Feet,' Said Dr Sushrut Babhulkar, The Orthopaedic Surgeon Who Adopted The Tiger.
In a unique and humane gesture, the Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries Science University (MAFSU) and an orthopaedic surgeon of Nagpur will place a prosthetic leg to a tiger in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
“In 2016, he was brought to us with an injured paw. He couldn't walk. We're in a tie-up with an animal husbandry, their doctors treated him, now he walks but is in a lot of pain. Dr Babhulkar adopted him and wants to provide him prosthetic limb,” said UK Agrawal from Forest Development Corporation.
“The tiger was in a lot of pain and used to hop on three legs. We immediately decided to provide him with prosthetics so that he can walk on all four feet,” said Dr Sushrut Babhulkar, the Orthopaedic Surgeon who adopted the tiger.
It is possibly the first time that a tiger will get a prosthetic limb.
