New traffic cells in Noida for smooth and hassle-free movement

Population in Noida and nearby areas are growing day by day, to decongest the city, it will soon have a new traffic cell in Sector 94, near Clover Leaf that will ensure smooth and hassle-free movement of traffic. The responsibility of the construction was undertaken by the Noida Authority in October 2014.
The main functions of this cell includes traffic monitoring of the entire city, time synchronization through all the red light signals, managing public transport buses and assigning the routes for other public transports like tempos and taxis.
Functional since February 2015, the ITMS Project was awarded by the Union Ministry of Urban Development as the "Best Practice Project for Urban Transport". It primarily monitores the long stretch of Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and has brought down the number of road accidents per year by 23 pc.
CEO of Noida Authority, Rama Raman says, "The traffic cell is planned to be used for monitoring the footage received from CCTV cameras with motion-based algorithms to check over-speeding vehicles and Automatic Number Plate Reading (ANPR) systems to nab traffic rule violators. Wi-fi facilities and an e-challan system will also be introduced in the new cell. The traffic police will also be given hand-held devices to issue the fines to offenders."
