'Time To Introspect', Says Ravi Shankar Prasad On Death-Row Convicts Using Delaying Tactics
Union Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad On Friday Said It Was A Day Of Satisfaction With Nirbhaya Getting Justice.
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday said it was a day of satisfaction with Nirbhaya getting justice. However, Prasad also conceded the fact that it was also the time to introspect whether death-row convicts can be allowed to ‘manipulate’ the legal system in order to delay law from taking its due course.
Earlier in the morning, all the four convicts of Nirbhaya murder and gang-rape case- Mukesh Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar Singh (31)- were hanged in Tihar Jail at 5:30 am.
“It’s a day of satisfaction that a daughter, who underwent so much pain, has got justice,” Prasad told reporters in Parliament premises.
“It’s time for judiciary, government and civil society to introspect whether death-row convicts can be allowed to manipulate system and cause delay”, news agency PTI quotes the law minister as saying.
PM Modi also reacted on the hanging of convicts in the Nirbhaya case saying, “Justice has prevailed.”
