No formal request received for Rahul Gandhi to undertake Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: MEA
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said it has not received any formal request for Congress President Rahul Gandhi to undertake Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
“We have not received any formal request for his visit to the Tibetan Autonomous region in China,” MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.
The Congress recently had said that Gandhi was yet to receive a response from the government to his request to undertake the Kailash Mansoravar Yatra.
Addressing a rally on April 29, the Congress president had announced that he would go on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar post Karnataka Assembly elections.
The MEA spokesperson said Gandhi can visit Kailash Mansarovar either through the MEA-organised route or through a private route, adding MEA has not received any communication for the second option as well.
The Kailash Manasoravar Yatra, known for its religious values and cultural significance, is organised by the Ministry of External Affairs in cooperation with the government of People’s Republic of China every year between June and September.
