Odisha: One killed, 2 injured as bridge caves in at Batighar village

A daily wage earner was killed and two other labourers were seriously injured as a wooden bridge caved in at Batighar village in Mahakalpada police station area in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.The temporary bridge caved in when a concrete-mixer-machine carrying the labourers was passing over it on Monday night, a police officer aid. The ill-maintained bridge built over Khola rivulet collapsed as it failed to withstand the load of the machine, the officer said.Tapas Geru (32) died as he was trapped inside the machine which fell into the river water. Two other labourers are undergoing treatment at headquarters hospital and are stated to be out of danger, the officer said.
