Two troopers of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by CPI-Maoist cadres in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Monday.
The incident took place in the Chitrakonda forest when the joint security forces including Odisha Police and CoBRA (a specialised unit jungle warfare unit of CRPF) were on sanitization operation.
The injured jawans have been rushed to a hospital in Malkangiri for medical treatment.
According to sources, a joint operation was launched on Monday early hours after senior Odisha Police officers received intelligence inputs regarding Naxal leaders from various zones gathering at Chitrakonda forest area to corner the Maoists.

A senior CRPF officer not willing to be quoted said that the Maoists triggered IED blasts after they found themselves cornered. Massive search operation have been launched in the area to nab the Maoist cadres.
