Padmavati row: National Woman Commission directs Haryana Police to investigate BJP leader's bounty offer on Deepika Padukone’s head
The National Commission For Women (NCW) Taking Cognizance Of Media Reports Has Directed The Haryana Police To Look Into The Reports Of A BJP Leader Of The State Promising Rs 10 Crore Award Money To Person Beheading Actor Deepika Padukone And ‘Padmavati’ Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The National Commission for women (NCW) taking cognizance of media reports has directed the Haryana Police to look into the reports of a BJP leader of the state promising Rs 10 crore award money to person beheading actor Deepika Padukone and ‘Padmavati’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
On Sunday, Harayana BJP’s chief media coordinator Suraj Pal Amu had announced the reward money for beheading Padukone and Bhansali. He had also threatened breaking actor Ranveer Singh’s limbs.
Amu had said, “I want to congratulate the Meerut youth who announced a Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.We will reward those who behead them with Rs 10 crore and also take care of their family’s needs.”
The NCW in a letter to the Haryana DGP directed them to look into the matter on priority. The women commission in a statement said that they had taken suo motu cognisance of media reports on the BJP leader’s remarks.
The NCW in its state said, “Its takes a stringent view of such illegal statements.”
The Haryana BJP earlier in the day had served a show cause notice to Amu seeking explanation over the bounty offer. The saffron had distanced itself from the leader’s remarks stating that Amu made the comments in his personal capacity.
Haryana BJP media wing chairman Rajiv Jain told the media, “We have served him a show cause notice and has asked explanation for the Rs 10 crore remark.”
