"Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and resorted to firing in Pallanwala sector of Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu district from 1.35 PM", PRO Defence, Col Manish Mehta said. "Firing is on and Army troops from our side retaliated", he said.
Earlier, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing in three areas of Rajouri district from 0515 hours, he said. Pakistani troops targeted Jhangar, Kalsian and Makri sub-sectors of Noushera belt.
They fired mortar bombs, automatic weapons and small arms, he said, adding the exchanges are going on with Indian troops giving a befitting reply. There have been five ceasefire violations in the past over 24 hours along the LoC.
Yesterday, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire four times and restored to heavy firing and mortar shelling in Saujian, Shahpur-Kerni, Mandi and KG sectors in Poonch district, where five civilian were injured and several?shops burnt down after a shell triggered fire in oil containers kept in a security force camp.
