State Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said the work on this project, under the Swachh Bharat Mission, is already underway and will be completed by October 2, 2017.
He said this while laying the foundation stone of a Rs 21 crore project sewage facility which will cater to 14 panchayats of three villages- Meharban, Jagirpur and Bajra here, where State Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon was also present.
He said the facility will benefit a population of more than 50,000, which was earlier facing problems due to absence of a sewerage system.
Stating that there is no shortage of funds when it comes to development projects, he claimed the Akali-BJP led state government has carried out a record level of development works such as construction of roads, rail over bridges, bridges, irrigation and power generation.
He said it was only due to the efforts of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal that Punjab is now among the top states of the country in terms of infrastructure development.
