Punjab polls: VVPAT machine to help voters in checking their vote for first time

A new machine known as Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be used for the first time on trial basis. The new machine will be a voter verifier machine. It will help voters in checking for whom he/she has voted.
Punjab Assembly election will be held on Saturday in single phase. BJP is in government in Punjab in alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for two successive terms.
In Punjab, 1.98 crore electors are eligible to vote to choose from among 1,145 candidates to elect a 117-member assembly.
