Rahul Gandhi takes a dig at Modi government, says 'Make soldiers buy their own clothes and shoes'
A day after accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of giving scripted interviews, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday mocked the ruling BJP government for coining "empty slogans and useless acronyms".
His tweet came after reports of the Centre slashing funds for soldiers' uniform surfaced on the internet.
"MAKE (empty slogans and useless acronyms) IN INDIA....meanwhile, make our soldiers buy their own clothes and shoes," tweeted the Gandhi scion, who is currently accompanying her mother Sonia Gandhi for a medical check-up in abroad.

Earlier, there were reports that the Indian Army cut down 50 per cent supplies from state-run ordained factories. Going by the reports, soldiers will now spend their own money to buy uniforms and other essentials from local markets.
The drastic step followed Centre's failure to allocate funds for purchasing critical ammunition for a short intense war. The cut affected critical ammunition and spares for a 'short intense war'.
