Payal Rohatgi, Sent To Jail Over Post On Nehru On Monday, Granted Bail On Tuesday
Payal Rohatgi Was Denied Bail On Monday, December 16, And Was Sent To Jail Till December 24.
Bollywood actor Payal Rohatgi, who was arrested in a case relating to alleged objectionable content against the Nehru-Gandhi family on social media, has been granted bail by local court in Rajasthan's Bundi on Tuesday. Rohatgi's counselor Bhupendra Sahay Saxena moved the bail application in the court of district judge in Bundi on Monday. The district judge was on leave on Tuesday so the application was moved to the court of additional district judge.
"The court of additional district judge granted bail to Payal Rohatgi today on two bail bonds of Rs 25,000 each," public prosecutor Yogesh Yadav said.
Earlier, Rohatgi was denied bail on Monday, December 16, and was sent to jail till December 24. On December 15, Sunday, Payal Rohatgi was detained in Rajasthan by the Bundi police for her alleged explosive comments against the former Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Payal came in the line of fire a couple of months ago on September 21, 2019, for a Facebook video in which she made objectionable comments against Motilal Nehru's family. In the video, she was also heard defaming Jawaharlal Nehru's wife. A case was filed against Payal in Rajasthan for this Facebook video by Charmesh Sharma, Youth Congress leader. This case was registered under sections 66 and 67 of the IT Act, as reported by the news agency, IANS.
