The Police On Friday Said That Mobile Phone Recharge Stores Are Selling Phone Numbers Of Women For Rs 50 To Rs 500 To Men Across Uttar Pradesh And It Is Being Sold On The Basis Of Looks Of Women.
The police on Friday said that mobile phone recharge stores are selling phone numbers of women for Rs 50 to Rs 500 to men across Uttar Pradesh and it is being sold on the basis of looks of women.
After taking phone number of girls, men used to stalk them for friendship, harmless fun and some even indulge in obscene talks, reported Hindustan Times.
The matter came to light when UP Police identified the increasing practice after receiving complaints from women helpline number 1090, set up by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Police also claimed that the shopkeepers used fake documents to procure fresh SIM cards for these harassers.
A 24-year-old youth from Shahjahanpur told Hindustan Times that he considered this as ‘having some harmless fun’. ‘Sometimes we send vulgar pictures over WhatsApp,’ he admitted.
